NGC 4526 lies in the constellation Virgo and is about 55 million light years distant. It is a lenticular galaxy, a lenticular galaxy is A galaxy that like spiral galaxies has a flat disk but unlike them has lost most of its interstellar matter and because of this it has no spirals. NGC 4526 was host to two known supernova, SN 1994D and SN 1969E.
